The West New York School District would like to inform you about an upcoming nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) that will be conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) this fall.
The national test will take place on Wednesday, October 4th, and is scheduled to commence at approximately 2:20 p.m. Eastern Time (ET). The purpose of this test is to evaluate the effectiveness and functionality of the EAS and WEA systems in the event of a national emergency. This test will help ensure that these systems can quickly and effectively provide critical emergency information to the public.
During the test, you may receive a test message on your mobile device, or you may see and hear test alerts on your television and radio. Please note that this is only a test and not an actual emergency. There is no cause for alarm.

El Distrito Escolar de West New York desea informarles sobre una próxima prueba a nivel nacional del Sistema de Alerta de Emergencia (EAS) y las Alertas de Emergencia Inalámbrica (WEA) que llevará a cabo la Agencia Federal de Manejo de Emergencias (FEMA) en coordinación con la Comisión Federal de Comunicaciones (FCC) este otoño.
La prueba nacional se llevará a cabo el miércoles 4 de octubre y está programada para comenzar aproximadamente a las 2:20 p.m., hora del Este (ET). El propósito de esta prueba es evaluar la eficacia y funcionalidad de los sistemas EAS y WEA en caso de una emergencia nacional.
